Information on a door above the main entrance door on a house ?
I’ve seen a house, and a few others that have a door, that is directly above the main entrance door. The door is on the second floor of the house, and goes no where, there is no balcony, just goes straight to the lower roof part. It’s generally found on really old houses. My mother told me that it was a superstition of some sort, where it was made to let “the spirits out.”
Can anyonr confirm this, or give more information on it?

It sounds more like doors that were used for storage access ~ it is easy to get things straight in to the space under the roof if you don’t have to get them up and round stairs…
