I want to display an old ventriloquist doll in an acrylic case hanging on the wall, where can I get one?

I want to hang it in my son’s room, it was his grandfathers. I would like the case to not be glass, for obvious reasons, but hang-able. Do you have any suggestions on how to “pose” it.. have it stand or sit.

I’m assuming any place like Home Depot should have something that would work.

Out of curiosity, what is the story behind the ventriloquist puppet?

Ideas for Organizing Hat Pins?

I collect hat pins, and i love all of them but still do not want to display them in a glass case on the wall. I do want to somehow keep them organized as i now have them in a box but have no ideas. I’m trying to research but would love other’s people opinion. Any help?
i dont wanna hang it on the wall at all but thx for the idea. and i dont really want a box, something similar to a binder maybe????

If you had an old fashioned vase, can add a pincushion on top of vase to display arrange the hat pins like a bouquet of flowers. Can enclose under a glass or plexiglass display dome or square case. That way you can see them and they are protected.

In the victorian days, there are the hat pin holders that were used. So the vase and display theme would be along those lines.

There are binders like for recipe cards or baseball cards that could be used. The hatpins could then be arranged and categorized in one.

DVD or CD wallets with hard plastic cd cases (the clear ones) would protect the tops of the hat pins from being crushed.

Simple Taxidermy Question? Please Read.?

This is probably a really stupid question…. I purchased a 30″ skin taxidermy of a Northern Pike on eBay after I caught a 29 1/2″ fish on my camping trip to Saranac Lake. In the auction it said that driftwood would not be included because it would be too heavy to ship. The fish arrived with what looked like stitches and two 1/4 inch metal rods protruding from his side. How in the world am I supposed to mount this on the wall? Do I need to buy a piece of driftwood in order to display it?

Yes, skin mounts have a tendency to decay. Although I have one that has been around for 20+years and it is holding up pretty good. You can put several coats of varnish or a clear polyurethene to protect it and make it last longer. Other than that I really have no suggestions

History of Wall clocks

History has seen that wall clocks have played an important part in our homes. It took craftsmen several months to finish one. Only the kings and queens would afford the luxuries of these brass dials in their mansions and palaces. Then history saw the second revolution of large scale changes. Great Britain was the first to revamp the traditional brass dials and introduce the modern clock dials that we have today. Painted dials, heavy work wooden wall clocks soon grew in popularity and were produced for the use of the masses. During this era, wall clocks started to be used not only for timekeeping but also as decorative and commemorative pieces. British industrialist and imperialist started to use them to mark and celebrate various religious and cultural events and even famous sports and war victories. Glass display case in the floor?

My husband wants to install a glass casing in the floor just big enuff to place a Steelers Terrible Towel in, we are about to put in the hardwood floor and wondering if anyone had any suggestions, or if you have heard of doing anything like this.

I would contact a glass company for a custom piece and their recommendations. A good starting point to search for might be 3/4″ tempered safety glass, but they could tell you other options.

I would ensure that the towel is perfectly flat, (check for bumpy stitched seams, such as at the corners) and lay the glass directly on top of the towel, rather than leaving a gap (shadowbox). The idea being a flat, even contact will spread out pressure better.

The carpenter can create a flush frame design around the cutout which would complete the design. The custom glass might take time to order, so plan accordingly.
