How should I decorate a living room with buttery off-white walls?

The apartment I’m moving into has sort of ivory/ buttery pale yellow walls with wide white baseboards. My futon is black, and I have a white shelf my TV is on and a glass and silver desk. I also have a brown patterned recliner. Can I use the white, black and glass with the walls the color they are and then throw in some brighter colors like hot pink, green, yellow? I’m thinking I should cover the brown chair as it doesn’t match the color scheme of the rest of the room. Any ideas?

1] concentrate on three colors for each room. One should be 60% of room, second should be 30%, and third should be 10%.
2] you already have butter yellow, plus a black sofa; and the brown recliner.
3] definitely cover the recliner or the sofa, so you can use black [ or brown - not both! ]
4] you could use hot pink, lime green, and lemon yellow for pillows, small ornaments, candles, flowerpot/planter
5] try to make the colors in apartment ‘flow’ from room to room, in ‘public’ areas.
a] if you like yellow, green, and pink; use a different proportion of same color for kitchen [ say 60% green, 30% pink, and 10% yellow. ]
b] or use one color from LR in kitchen [ say green ] and add one new shade [ blue ]
c] also suggest framing all art work [ paintings, photos, posters ] in similar color and material – brass/chrome, oak/walnut, colored enamel

Why are my pix now thumbnails?

I used to scan my photos, and then saved them in my pic album. For some reason, about a week ago, after scanning them, (the same size pix) and saving to the same album, they now show up as thumbnails. I’ve contacted my scanner manufacturer, and reinstalled the entire program. I don’t think it’s my scanner, but rather Windows application that’s opening it. I’ve tried, PhotoShop, Paint, Paperport, etc. and I can resize the photo to normal size using them, but if I try to save it like that, (the normal size) they still show up small??? There must be someway to restore the original settings, so I don’t need a magnifying glass to view them……HELP!

Are you saying that whenever you save a photo from ANY program it is saving as a thumbnail? are you saving them as jpgs or something else? What operating system are you using and what scanner? Are they only showing up like that in you album? Is it a Yahoo album or something else?

Begginer into terrariums?

After an impulse buy today I got to thinking about starting a terrarium.
So, any tips, good links? I have an old 10 gallon tank with a screen lid that I am gonna use. I know venus fly traps need humidity, so i’m probably gonna cover the top in like plastic wrap to keep the humidity in…..or if I find a glass lid, use that. On my desk in my room it gets sunlight from my windows.
What other beginners small plants would you suggest that go well with venus fly traps?
I hae never had a terrarium before, the only garden I’ve ever had was my moms….and I barley helped…so I’m a beginner!
